The 2008 featured staff member is Susan Hamilton
| For those of you who have not
noticed, there is a new face in the Advising Center. Susan Hamilton joined
the department in June of 2007. Susan was born and raised in St. Louis where
she worked as a secretary for the Department of the Army before moving to the
Rolla area 39 years ago. She has worked at the University for 26 years. Her
previous positions include Administrative Assistant in the School of
Engineering Deans Office and Senior Secretary in the Universality
Bookstore. Susan was drawn to the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Advising Center because she enjoys working with students. Her job duties include maintaining the undergraduate student list serve, processing forms for undergraduate students, assisting with class schedules, department scholarships, the Phone-a-Thon, and senior banquets. | ![]() |
While learning a new job has been challenging, Susan stated that "getting the help I need when I ask" has made the adjustment easier. When asked what she liked most about her job, Susan stated that the staff and faculty are nice to work with and Butler-Carlton Hall is a beautiful building.
Susan and her husband Bill live in St. James. She has four children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. In her spare time Susan enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren), travelling with her husband, reading and gardening. Susan has proved to be an asset to the department. Her friendly disposition and eagerness to help students make her a perfect fit for the job. We are happy to welcome Susan to the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering family.
